I hold a Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology and a Masters degree in mental health counseling from Antioch University Seattle. I have 20 years of experience in the field of mental health.
My therapeutic approach is a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), The Gottman Method, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP,) Existentialism, Depth Psychology, Art and Play Therapy. I have presented domestically and internationally on the topics of complicated grief and trauma following a loss of a loved one to a traumatic death such as suicide.
I am a certified Clinical Hypnotherapist. My background also includes a long-standing interest in movement and meditation (dance, yoga and mindfulness practices) as well as Somatic Psychology approaches especially as they apply to Trauma work. In addition to my clinical work, I conduct trauma evaluations for torture survivors seeking asylum in U.S. and I am a volunteer with Health Right International whose focus is assisting torture survivors. I am fluent in Russian and I welcome both English and Russian-speaking clients.
If you have read this far - I know you are considering me and you are serious about finding the right therapist. I value such intentionality in a client and want to summarize as clearly as I can who I am as a therapist. I like to use both traditional and non traditional approaches. I am comfortable in evidence based techniques as well as approaches that are considered alternative, creative, exploratory and push the edges of traditional psychology. A lot of what we do will depend on who you are and what you are comfortable with.
